What customers say?

“ This place is incredible. We came from Chicago and stumbled upon this place, and it was the best find of the trip. 95% locals (we're still not sure if we were even supposed to be there!), and a Dutch singer singing Dutch singalong songs karaoke style. Everyone in the bar sang along, including us even though we don't speak Dutch! The bartender was amazing and gorgeous (as we found out, pretty much everyone is gorgeous in Holland), and we even did a shot of "Dutch Dynamite" with her, which tasted like Jaeger mixed with salted Carmel. Amazing night all around! ”

“ As a foreigner, this place does obviously not have me as their target demographic. And that is totally fine. As many people seem to comment that the bouncer would say "Dutch only" it is clear he is talking about the music. This place does not cater their activities to tourists, and that is fine. We had a great time listening and trying to enjoy the vibe of the bar. It seemed as the those who could understand the lyrics had a great evening, and as a consequence so did me and my friend. One thing which seems to confuse me is that there was a 50 cent charge (Cash only) for using the restroom. This is for me pretty alienating when we are already paying in the bar for beer. Still this would not have been a problem if the lady "running the second floor" had simply informed me that I could pay for 50 cent down in the bar. I had not brought any cash for the evening, as every other place I had visited this trip seemed to discourage cash in Amsterdam. If anything, holding back this information instead of simply informing me felt much more hostile than any of the comments regarding the bouncer (which was strict about the Dutch song policy, but not in any way hostile). ”

“ Jouw blik the best Dutch song for me but only at Bolle Jan in Youtube its awful. ”

- What a Play -

“ Good. Live singer, full bar. Famous and a little corny. Wonderful! ”

- Wout Albers -

“ A tiny little bar which could fit 50 in at a push. I went on a Monday night and there was singing and dancing as if it we the weekend. The singer sung a mix of Dutch and English songs and the vibe was welcoming of tourists but not made for tourists - well worth a visit. ”

- Josh Clare -

“ Music was loud, crowd was dancing and the guy singing was great. I didn't know hardly any songs but the vibe was infectious. Bartenders were smiling and singing, music created 100db, and I learned who Rene Froger is. ”

- Alex Foucre-Stimes -

“ It's been a great place ever since, and it still is. Everyone comes here for the same good times and a party atmosphere. The staff is also super friendly, and the singers are always great. Highly recommended. ”

- Vincent van der Veer -

“ Great memories of fantastic night here in 1998. Great Bar, Great atmosphere, great staff ”
